Kiko 木光
Kiko is a private two-storey home in Higashiyama, just south of Gion, offering 63.8 m² of space for up to five guests. Warm timber floors and cabinetry, an open wood-and-black-metal staircase, muted walls, and handcrafted ceramic details give the interiors a contemporary calm rooted in Kyoto craft. Upstairs, two bedrooms contain four semi-double beds, while a first-floor tatami room can be prepared with one futon.
The layout is compact but thoughtfully planned for groups, with a kitchen and dining area for shared meals, a shower and laundry area on the ground floor, and two restrooms - one on each level. The highlight is a private outdoor ceramic bath set in a small stone courtyard, an inviting place to slow down after a day of walking through Higashiyama.
